The rumored third main title for "Pokémon Sun and Moon", "Pokémon Stars", was said to be a Switch title. While not confirming or debunking the rumor, Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara assures that Pokémon will be seen on the Switch.

In order for Pokémon to successfully make the jump into Nintendo's newest console hybrid, Ishihara stated that many changes have to happen, especially with their approach to game development. As reported by Polygon, Pokémon games, at least with the main titles involved, are more on the handheld sige of the market. If a Pokémon game would be released for the Switch, then the production team must be able to adjust to the bigger screen and bigger frame rate for the larger device.

On the topic of what game are fans to expect from the Pokémon Company as they switch, well, to the Switch, Ishihara was still tight-lipped about it. Many players are anticipating a main-title Pokémon game would be arriving on the Switch, though it could also be supplementary games like Pokémon Stadium.

On the other hand, Nintendo has just released a game that is only available in the console's portable mode. Titled Voez, the game will be utilizing the hybrid's portable setup, particularly its touchscreen. Scheduled for release on launch day, Eurogamer reported that Voez would the first Switch game to be a portable exclusive.

Games like Voez are opening another door for game developers, further playing on the idea that the Switch is also a portable device. In Pokémon's case, the company could opt to have the future main-title games to become portable exclusives. The idea certainly hits two birds with one stone, first at ti would still keep the tradition of the Pokémon games to be for handhelds, and second to make production as easy as it could be.

Nintendo Switch is launching on March 3, 2017.
