Long-time fans of the anime and manga will be glad to know that the "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action film will be out on Dec. 1, 2017. After the short trailer last year, Warner Bros. recently released a new teaser image that features the Elric brothers. Ryosuke Yamada of Hey! Say! JUMP is cast as main protagonist Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist.

The 2017 film is based on Hiromu Arakawa's manga, which was also adapted into anime. The story follows alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric and their journey to retrieve Al's body after a failed transmutation to revive their dead mother. Edward is a State Alchemist who goes around stopping bad guys and trying to find the Philosopher's Stone. The "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie will be the anime's first live-action adaptation.

Warner Bros. released a teaser video last year, but it only had one scene that showed Edward's face. Crunchyroll has confirmed that Ryosuke Yamada will be playing the "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action adaptation's Edward Elric. The 23-year-old actor is a former member of Jpop group Hey! Say! JUMP and has starred in several TV dramas and films like the "Assassination Classroom" live-action adaptation.

There has been no news of Al's actor yet, but the rest of the "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie cast is as follows: Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Col. Roy Mustang, Misako Renbutsu as Lt. Riza Hawkeye, Kanata Hongō as Envy, Yo Oizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura as Tim Marcoh, and Kenjirō Ishimaru as Van Hohenheim.

After the movie trailer, Warner Bros. released a "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action image teaser. io9 reported that the image reveals the two brothers at the train station. The costume and set design are clearly made to mimic "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood", which followed the manga closely. The new movie is going to use a brand new CGI that was created specifically for Al's armor body.
