“Shadowhunters" Season 2 is gearing up for an explosive winter finale next week. Even when fan favorite Malec had their big moment together recently, ratings for the Freeform drama continue to drop. It has come to the point where the fan support for the winter finale may determine if the series will score another season from the network.

According to Carter Matt, although “Shadowhunters” Season 2 is able to generate a lot of buzz, these do not translate to high ratings somehow. In fact, its latest episode had just over 520,000 viewers, the lowest overall audience of the series since it aired on Freeform.

In the official trailer for the “Shadowhunters” Season 2 winter finale, Valentine (Alan van Sprang) is seen telling Clary (Katherine McNamara) to show up within the hour. If she doesn’t, he will give Simon (Alberto Rosende) the kind of death Clary would not wish on anyone. Despite everybody telling Clary not to go and give Valentine the chance to take her anywhere near The Soul Sword, she will go anyway.

Spoilers for the “Shadowhunters” Season 2 episode titled “By the Light of Dawn” reveal the Downworlders’ continuous attempts to eliminate Clary. Alec (Matthew Daddario), the new leader of The New York Institute, will be under great pressure to find a solution to saved the doomed Downworld says TV Insider.

Viewers will find out in the “Shadowhunters” Season 2 winter finale if Clary being forced to activate The Sword will spell the doom of the entire Downworld. Perhaps, the effects could be reversed. There might also be a chance that the demon who is destined to destroy The Sword will come and save the day for the Downworlders.

There will be little hope for salvation in the chaos that the midseason finale of “Shadowhunters” Season 2 brings. Find out who will survive when it airs on Monday, March 6, on Freeform.
