'Star Wars Rebels' Set to Return for a Fourth Season

Disney XD has announced the renewal for the fourth season of "Star Wars Rebels," the much-appreciated animated series by LucasFilm. The next season will be premiering later this year and the production works are already underway.

In an official statement from Disney XD, Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming, and general manager, revealed the news and added that the "Star Wars Rebels" team will once again deliver an epic story to captivate fans of all ages across the globe. The series is placed between "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: A New Hope." Developed by Dave Filoni ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars"), Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: Days of Future Past") and Carrie Beck, the third season of the show was Disney XD's No.1 series in terms of viewerships. It generated 60 million consumer engagements across Disney's various digital platforms.

Deadline reported that "Star Wars Rebels" will feature a new set of actors but iconic characters like Darth Vader, Yoda, and Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex will be retained in the new edition. The third installment of this Lucasfilm Animation production is executive produced by Filoni and Kinberg. Currently, the thrilling series is in its third season with the introduction of the dreadful villain Grand Admiral Thrawn from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The show also has characters like Saw Gerrera and the legendary Maul planning for an ultimate revenge.

The voice cast of "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Tom Baker as Bendu, Sam Witwer as Maul, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans can now look for more exciting announcements during the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this April!
