Fans of the long-running anime "Naruto Shippuden" are to be hit with sad news. The series will come to an end this month. However, there's still hope for the original characters to appear in the upcoming "Boruto" spinoff.

According to Comic Book, the 14th Weekly Shonen Jump issue teased that "Naruto Shippuden" will air its final episode on March 23. The episode will be episode number 500 and will be the huge franchise's 720th installment. However, there was no official word whether the series will air new episodes in the near future.

The series was expected to end last year. However, it was announced that "Naruto Shippuden" will have a couple more episodes. The stories mirrored "Konoha Hidden," epilogue novels that focused on solo stories of some characters. The list included Shikamaru and Sasuke.

Fans around the globe are starting to feel the impact of the series' end. Some have pointed out that they would like to see more episodes. However, it appears that "Naruto Shippuden" has given everything it can to the small screens. The development team will now focus on "Boruto."

Another report from CB notes that the development team is now building hype for "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations." The spinoff will revolve around Boruto Uzumaki and his adventures with the new generation of ninjas. It is a "Naruto Shippuden" spinoff.

The Weekly Shonen Jump recently revealed that the music for "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" will be handled by KANA-BOON and Peggies. KANA-BOON has worked with "Naruto Shippuden" previously. It remains to be seen how fans will welcome the new series.

There have been fears of "Boruto" not getting the same warm welcome that "Naruto Shippuden" received. The latter has always been in the top 10 list of hit anime in Japan. However, the creators and development team are hoping that the spinoff will get as much attention of the Naruto starrer.

"Naruto Shippuden" will close its pages on March 23. Stay tuned for more updates on the hit franchise.
