An Australian Justin Bieber impersonator has been charged with 900 counts of sex offenses. The accused, Gordon Douglas Chalmers, solicited intimate photos from children online.

NBC News reported that the 42-year-old law professor was caught red-handed in November 2016. The Queensland University of Technology lecturer and Justin Bieber impersonator used social network Facebook and video calling app Skype. Chalmers was only caught when U.S. and German security authorities alerted their Australian counterparts. When they acquired a search warrant, they went through his social networking as well as cloud and email accounts.

The Justin Bieber impersonator was also said to have used a telecom service provider to tap children for grooming. Furthermore, he met up with some of his victims to take explicit photos of them. He then compiled the materials he acquired and distributed them through illegitimate means, according to The Daily Beast. The police said that they also found child pornography materials that may or may not have been related to the case.

Queensland police involved in the investigation said that the Justin Bieber impersonator has been under the police radar since 2007. That was the first time they discovered pieces of evidence that he was posing as the 23-year-old Canadian pop sensation. By the time of his arrest in November 2016, he had victimized 50 American and 20 British girls plus 6 Australian ones.

The authorities released a statement regarding the matter that pointed out one thing. It said that people need to rethink the way children are being taught about online safety. Furthermore, they noted about how atrocious the crime perpetrated by the Justin Bieber impersonator was.

Chalmers, the Justin Bieber impersonator, is set to appear in a court on Apr. 6. U.S. and UK courts may also file charges against him since other victims came from those countries.
