Ed Sheeran is in "Game of Thrones" Season 7 for a cameo appearance. Details about his role remain scarce, but below are what we know so far about his part in the series.

Sheeran only has a guest role in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff confirmed that he is part of the casts during Sunday's South by Southwest (SXSW) panel in Texas. Benioff revealed that they had long wanted to recruit the British singer for Maisie Williams. "For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie [Williams], and this year we finally did it," Benioff said.

However, the series creator did not reveal details about Sheeran's role in "Game of Thrones "Season 7. He has reportedly finished filming his scenes in the installment. Sheeran's role in the series remains unspecified although, given the minor roles of the previous artists casts in the show, it is likely he plays one of the Wildings.

According to Vanity Fair, this is not the first time that artists or rockers were part of the show. Aside from Sheeran's appearance in "Game of Thrones" Season 7, the series also recruited Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, Coldplay's Will Champion and members of Mastodon. Fans may not have recognized them because of their appearances. Members of Mastodon became part of the Wildings.

The last time viewers saw the Wildings was when the White Walkers attacked their huts. A few survived and some joined Jon Snow in the "Battle of the Bastards." It remains unclear if the Wildings will be back in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. However, it is likely that they too will join the battle against the White Walkers.

Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 would not be Sheeran's first TV show appearance. He had a recurring role as the protégé of a church elder in "The Bastard Executioner." He also made a cameo appearance in "Home and Away."
