Way back in February 2016 when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got matching tattoos, they had no idea that the same tattoos would haunt them a few months later. The "magical" tattoos which were reportedly done with the same ink were meant to symbolically bind them together as husband and wife.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who are locked in a bitter divorce and custody battle of their six children got the tattoos while they were in Thailand with their family. The tattoos were done when the "Maleficent" star took a break from her shooting schedule for "First They Killed My Father" that she was filming in Cambodia, reported Sun.

Angelina Jolie got three "magical" Sak Yant tattoos on her back while Brad Pitt got a tattoo of Buddhist symbol on the left of his stomach. The new tattoos were done by ex-Thai monk Ajarn Noo Kanpai who had inked Jolie with a tiger image in 2004, reported Metro.

The three new Sak Yant tattoos were applied on Angelina Jolie's back using a number of steel rods that were mounted with a surgical steel needle. This process of inking is said to be more painful but more accurate than the usual tattoo gun.

Ajarn had reportedly used the same ink to tattoo both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to bind them in their marriage symbolically. The tattoos done by Ajarn are said to protect those who own them and are popular with other celebrities like Delevigne and Michelle Rodriguez.

But unlike others, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt parted ways a few months later in September 2016 and announced their separation after being in a relationship for twelve years. Back in February 2016 when they got inked together, the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" stars had no idea about what the future had in store for them. What do you think will Jolie and Pitt do with these tattoos?
