A new actor will join "Mission: Impossible 6", the latest action movie in the franchise starring Tom Cruise. Director Christopher McQuarrie recently asked "Superman" actor Henry Cavill to star in the hit action film on Instagram. Cavill will be part of Cruise's team of secret agents and super spies.

Henry Cavill is best known for his role as DCEU's Superman, but he's no stranger to spy movies. In 2015, he starred in "The Man from UNCLE" as an American spy. After playing an alien superhero, Cavill will be returning to the world of secret agents in "Mission:  Impossible 6" as Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) right hand man.

Variety previously reported that Christopher McQuarrie, who directed "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation", will be back to direct "Mission: Impossible 6". McQuarrie tagged Cavill on Instagram and asked him if he wanted to star with Tom Cruise in the franchise. Although the script is still under wraps, Cavill will reportedly help Ethan Hunt manage their unit.

As of now, Cavill is the only new actor confirmed to join the "Mission: Impossible 6" cast. According to Movie Web, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner, who were in the previous "Mission: Impossible" films, will return, but it's not confirmed whether they all will have main roles or merely do cameos. Renner, particularly, revealed that there might a conflict with his "Avengers" schedule.

Fans know that the "Avengers: Infinity War" Part 1 and 2 are filming back to back, so Renner might only have a small part in the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 6". It's also not sure whether Alec Baldwin, who joined the cast as the head of the IMF in "Mission: Impossibe - Rogue Nation", will reprise his role in the next installment. McQuarrie also wrote the script and will produce the film with Tom Cruise, Don Granger, J.J. Abrams and Skydance Production's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. The film will hit theaters nationwide on July 27, 2018.
