‘The Last Man on Earth’ Season 3 News: Show To End With Cliffhanger If It Doesn't Get Renewed

Fox's post-apocalyptic comedy might be ending with "The Last Man on Earth" Season 3. The show's creator and star, Will Forte, claimed that there were still a lot of stories for the show to explore. If Season 4 gets cancelled, the last episode will be a cliffhanger for the viewers. Fox said, meanwhile, that the show is being considered for a renewal.

"The Last Man on Earth" series revolves around a group of people who survive an apocalyptic event. Phil Miller (Will Forte) thinks he's the only surviving human in 2020 until he meets Carol Pilbasian (Kristen Schaal). They decide to marry to repopulate the earth. After several episodes, they meet other survivors. In "The Last Man on Earth" Season 3, the group leaves Malibu after being threatened by Pat (Mark Boone Junior) and his team.

The third season is currently airing, but there's no confirmation that it will be renewed. Forte, the showrunner and main actor, previously revealed that if "The Last Man on Earth" Season 3 is the show's last run, fans will be highly disappointed. According to TV Series Finale, the series could potentially end in a cliffhanger if it doesn't get renewed.

"I think [Fox] likes the show. But I know it's all about the ratings and stuff. So I guess we just have to see," Forte said. When the show aired, it became the highest-rated show in the 18 - 49 demographic. Currently, though, "The Last Man on Earth" Season 3 ratings have dropped significantly, which might be reason enough for Fox to pull the show's plug.

A Fox studio representative, however, told TV Line that "The Last Man on Earth" was being considered for renewal. The producers and entertainment heads will meet to discuss which shows will be renewed or cancelled within two months.
