One Direction member Harry Styles revealed recently that he was dropping his debut solo album on April 7. The singer announced his new album during a commercial break for UK's "The Voice" and revealed that it will be different from his One Direction days.

Although One Direction lost Zayn Malik, the members promised that they will continue producing music together. Currently, the British boy band is on a hiatus, with the members pursuing different projects. Harry Styles seems to be the busiest one. Vogue reported that the 23-year-old singer will be releasing his first solo album next month.

The One Direction star revealed a teaser ad during a "The Voice" UK episode last Saturday. The one minute ad revealed a different Harry Styles. His new music is expected to be more brooding, more serious, and more somber than the usually pop tunes that One Direction produces. Accordingly, his new music takes inspiration from his favorite rock personalities like Sting, Queen, and David Bowie.

Harry Styles has been very tight-lipped about his new music, but it seems that he will exploring the rock genre on some level. Billboard reported that Styles signed with Columbia Records last June 2016, and this new music, which will be released in April, will be Styles' foray into a solo music career.

The pop rock boy band came together during "The X Factor" Season 7 and has received numerous awards. Harry Styles and the other One Direction stars previously told fans that they were on a hiatus, which is supposed to last for a little more than a year. It started last January 2016 and fans are hoping that it will end within a few months.

However, Harry Styles pursuing a solo career might herald the group's break up, which is frequent in the music industry. There's no news about the group's projects after the hiatus, though, so fans should hold their breath. Aside from Styles' April 7 solo album, he will be seen in Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" film this July.
