'Quantico' Renewal Not Likely, Supermodel Joins Cast; Priyanka Chopra May Be Abandoning Series

The fate of “Quantico” is still up in the air as ABC has not made an announcement whether to cancel or renew it just yet. Things are not looking good though on the show, which on its premiere season attracted millions of viewers with its interesting premise. Hoping to get another season, a new paradigm shift has been made and a supermodel has been added to the cast.

In an effort to save the show, the network moved the show from Sunday to Monday night. But, so far it hasn’t picked up as much as it was hoped to. The ratings for season 2 have been a far cry from the ones from last season. “Quantico” debuted to 7 million viewers and more than 8 million watched its highly anticipated first season finale. Its season 2, however, managed to score 3 million viewers only and worse, the ratings continue to decline.

Many are blaming the confusing storyline which earned poor reviews as the reason for the decline. Efforts are now underway to stop the bleeding. In its latest episode, there will be a fresh storyline and will no longer have two timelines running concurrently. While this has worked in the last season and in fact has been “Quantico’s” trademark, it has become confusing to the viewers.

Male supermodel Jon Kortajarena was signed to join “Quantico” adding to its main attraction, Priyanka Chopra. Kortajarena will be playing political operative and senior assistant to the Speaker of the House, Felix Cordova reported Vogue. He will be making his first appearance in episode 14 of the current season. Many fans are hoping that his chemistry with Priyanka Chopra can push the ratings of the show.

“Quantico” will also now be delving into a more realistic President Donald Trump story arc according to The Hollywood Reporter. This paradigm shift has already begun last Monday after the show returned from a month long hiatus. The question remains though on whether the show could still be saved.

The fact that Priyanka Chopra may be the first one to be giving up may not bode well for “Quantico”. She hasn’t confirmed if she will do a third season if it will be renewed. If she won’t, many people believe that it will really be the end of the series. In the meantime, showrunner Josh Safran may have revealed on the uncertainty of the show. He teased that the season 2 finale may serve as the series finale as well.
