"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn announced that the Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of the "Guardians" franchise will be screened on May 4.  The director took it to social media and posted an exclusive poster and souvenir collectible button set that guests will receive.

The said "Guardians of the Galaxy" double feature will be exclusively available to RealD 3D. The double feature intergalactic bliss will hit theaters on May 5.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" marketing is already underway. In fact, talks about a third installment has already begun but not after the crew of misfits are featured in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War." Marvel previously started the trend of giving back to back screening of its films. Its earlier films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" were also screened back to back in RealD 3D, Screen Rant reported.

The original crew of Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) will be back alongside Baby Groot (Vin Diesel). Former baddies Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) will join them. "Guardians of the Galaxy" will also introduce new characters including Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Ego the living planet (Kurt Russel) and the mysterious character to be played by Sylvester Stallone.

Elsewhere, director James Gunn did say that he had to cut one major character in from the treatment phase of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Comic Book reported. Although the director did not specifically name the character, he said that viewers may take their pick when they watch the film. Despite this, Gunn did say that he did not have to change much during the filming process because of a really sound script.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is slated for release on May 5, 2017. MCU will have a follow up later this year in "Thor: Ragnarok."
