"Criminal Minds" Season 12 fans expect to see the return of the drama's lead actor after the announcement that another former cast member would be making a guest appearance in the season finale. It should be noted that the season went through one of the biggest changes after CBS drama fired Thomas Gibson. After the issue has cooled down in the past few months, fans of Hotch express sentiments to see the actor back in the BAU.

Latest reports of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 have revealed that there may be a possibility for Thomas Gibson to return to the CBS drama. However, it is said that Gibson may not make a comeback in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 but at a later season. The showrunner Erica Messer has given a firm stance that the actor would not be returning to the show in the immediate future, Celebeat reported.

It should be noted that Gibson was previously fired from "Criminal Minds" Season 12 which led to the drop in ratings for the series. Gibson was allegedly charged with an altercation with a writer. Apparently, fans had warned to stop watching the show if Gibson was to be kicked out of it.

However, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 went on and introduced a Spencer-centric arc. Moreover, spoilers reveal that Reid's new prison buddy, the former FBI agent Calvin Shaw, would be hiding a secret from him. Note that "Criminal Minds" Season 12" airs every Wednesday on CBS at 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, an original cast member of "Criminal Minds" is set to rejoin the series in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. It should be noted that Shemar Moore starred in the series from 2005 until 2016 when his character was written off from the series. It is expected that Moore will reprise his role as Derek Morgan, AOL reported.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 is set to see Morgan bring the BAU a lead in the case against the serial killer and escaped convict Mr. Scratch. Take note that Moore is currently working on another CBS series, "S.W.A.T." reboot. Moore plays a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant torn between loyalty to the streets and his duty to his fellow officers. Watch the Episode 17 Promo in the video below:
