"True Detective" Season 3 may happen after all if the recent addition of a new writer is any indication. Reports reveal that "Deadwood" writer and producer David Milch is now onboard to help showrunner Nic Pizzolatto.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Milch has decided to get onboard "True Detective" Season 3 to help with the show's storyline. It is still unclear though if he plans to write the narrative for the duration of the season.

The publication claims that Pizzolatto has already penned two episodes for "True Detective" Season 3. Perhaps Milch will handle the remaining episodes for the installment.

However, it should be noted that Milch does not act as the series creator for "True Detective" Season 3. As it stands, it is still unclear if Pizzolatto remains the showrunner, although Head of HBO programming Casey Bloys is optimistic that Pizzolatto continues to supervise the show.

The addition of Milch as writer is the latest update to the potential release of "True Detective" Season 3. After being off the air for two years, fans have lost hope of its renewal (or revival). However, Bloys has since assured viewers that the show is not dead since it is a valuable franchise. "I talked to Nic about it and both Nic and HBO are open to another season," Bloys said as quoted by Fuse TV.

He said during the Television Critics Association press tour that "True Detective" Season 3 is definitely in the cards. It only needs a great storyline and a good writer to make it happen. During the same press interview, Bloys also talked about hiring a new writer to help Pizzolatto. "We're open to somebody else writing it and Nic supervising it," he said.

Hiring Milch, who is a four-time Emmy winner, to pen the story for "True Detective" Season 3 seems a good sign for the show's return on air. Now fans only need to wait for HBO to confirm the release and announce the premiere date of the installment.
