True Detective Season 3 Casting Rumors: Jon Hamm In Talks Nic Pizzolatto Drama After Mad Men?

After winning an Emmy for his powerful performance for the AMC drama, Mad Men, everyone wants to know what will be Jon Hamm's next project? Is the Mad Men actor in casting talks for Season 3 of True Detective, from creator Nic Pizzolatto? Or are they just rumors?

As we previously mentioned, Hamm was nominated and won for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series at the recent Emmy Awards. With a standing ovation, which started from Emmy winer Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Hamm received the recognition of seven years of powerful performances as Madison Avenue advertising man, Don Draper.

According to Gossip Cop, the rumor mill has begun for the third season of True Detective. The site debunks the rumors of Jon Hamm being in negotiations to star in the third season of True Detective or Fargo; a representative for the actor states, "neither is true."

The rumors started when a so-called source told OK Magazine that the 30 Rock actor "wants to strike while the iron is hot." Approached by both FX for "Fargo" and HBO with "True Detective." the alleged insider claims, "If he says yes to either, the whole series will be based around him."

How seriously should readers take these rumors? As Variety reports, though the third season is up in the air, HBO has inked a deal with True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto through 2018. The first breakout season, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, quicklygained critical acclaim, but the sophomore season, featuring Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams, has divided both critics and fans.

Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming, states, "I am thrilled to continue our relationship with Nic, as he is one of the most exceptionally talented writers and producers working today. I look forward to seeing where his unique creative vision will take us next."
