The Disney Channel announced last year the return of “High School Musical” with a new class of East High Wildcats. Fans of Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, who starred in the original tv movie, immediately got excited what role they will play in the new version, if any. Hudgens immediately addressed the issue while attending the launch of a mobile game.

E! News reported that Vanessa Hudgens said that being 28 years old, she won’t be making an appearance in the new “High School Musical.” She explained, "I could be a teacher, but I refuse to be a teacher! I'm still a teenager at heart.” Hudgens is excited though to see what the production team has whipped up together. If there is any advice she can give to the new cast, it is just to have fun like they did. In her time, they were just kids running around having fun she said.

Together with Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens have the original “High School Musical” to thank for their instant fame back in 2006. They reprised their roles as Troy and Gabriella in two sequels. The last of the two was released in 2008 and was the only one to get a theatrical release. After the musical ended, both concentrated on their respective movie careers. Hudgens, though, recently returned to television with a stellar performance in “Grease Live!” She also stars in the NBC series “Powerless.”

On the 10th anniversary of the first telecast of “High School Musical” last year, Vanessa Hudgens together with co-stars Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman had a reunion to tape segments for the anniversary telecast. Zac Efron gave a video message in honor of the special event.

Vanessa Hudgens herself is amazed that kids are still watching “High School Musical” said a Teen Vogue report. According to her it just shows the power the musical has and that it is timeless. It cannot be denied that it has achieved cult status.
