Award-winning actress Jessica Chastain wants to play Poison Ivy in the "Gotham City Sirens" movie. The casting hasn't been finalized, but there are rumors that Megan Fox is also being considered for the same role. "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer and Harley Quinn's Margot Robbie will work on the film as director and producer respectively.

While promoting her film "The Zookeeper's Wife", actress Jessica Chastain told Cinema Blend that she was interested in playing Poison Ivy for the upcoming "Gotham City Sirens" movie adaptation. "I'm interested in all things where the characters are strong and dynamic, and not stereotypes or objects," the "Crimson Peak" actress said.

The character of Poison Ivy has been stereotyped as a femme fatale before. However, Chastain said that she would be interested in the role if the "Gotham City Sirens" movie explores her story in an in-depth way. Other actresses considered are Stephanie Corneliussen ("Mr. Robot") and Megan Fox ("Transformers").

The latter already has experience in action franchise movies like the first two "Transformers" movies and the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" live action reboot. Only Margot Robbie has been confirmed to be part of the "Gotham City Sirens" movie cast. She will reprise her role as Harley Quinn, which she portrayed in "Suicide Squad".

According to Movieweb, Robbie will also work again with "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer. She will be on board the "Gotham City Sirens" movie, not just as an actress, but as a producer as well. There's still no announcement about the film's release date, but Warner Bros. has left a blank slate for 2018, which is also the year for James Wan's "Aquaman".

There's a chance that the "Gotham City Sirens" movie release date will be in 2018 before "Aquaman" hits the theaters in December next year. While DC films have not had the same success as those in the Marvel franchise, they do have a lot of unique stories. "Gotham City Sirens" will revolve around Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn, three female villains from Batman's city.
