‘The Winds Of Winter’ Release Date Delayed: George RR Martin Focuses On Launching Movie Studio

"Game Of Thrones" fans who are waiting for George R.R. Martin to release "The Winds Of Winter" will be disappointed to know that the date for the release of his latest book has been delayed yet again. The reason for the delay this time around is a movie studio that Martin is focusing on launching at the earliest.

"The Winds Of Winter" is the sixth installment of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, which has been impending release for a while now. With "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 releasing in a few months, fans of the highly popular franchise are urging the author to release the much-anticipated book as soon as possible.

However, it does not seem that the fans are going to get their desire fulfilled anytime soon. "The Winds Of Winter" will have to wait as George R.R. Martin has reportedly thrown all his time behind a non-profit movie studio called Stagecoach Foundation, which would assist aspiring filmmakers to transform their vision into reality. The headquarters for the foundation will be housed in a 30,000 square-foot building, wholly furnished with offices and production facilities in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Martin's hometown, The Albuquerque Journal reports.

"Stagecoach Foundation will help define the city's film infrastructure, attracting more productions from both filmmakers, film editors and digital media creators," Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales said. "As a foundation and a non-profit, [Martin's] vision to make this facility accessible and affordable." Meanwhile, fans feel that George R.R. Martin is deliberately procrastinating from releasing "The Winds Of Winter."

He has been notoriously known to do so in the past when he promised back in February through his Live Journal that he has written hundreds of pages but there is still a lot of work to be done on "The Winds Of Winter", hence he is unsure if he will be able to make the deadline, which is this year. "Not done yet, but I've made progress," George RR Martin wrote. "But not as much as I hoped a year ago when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year)."

As times goes by, chances of George R.R. Martin releasing "The Winds Of Winter" this year, are diminishing by the day. But since "Game Of Thrones" fans know that the author loves springing surprises on them, they are not ready to give up hopes that the author would come up with the book by the end of 2017.
