Singer Sir Tom Jones revealed in a recent interview that he didn't know how to go on after the death of his wife, Linda. His son encouraged him to see a therapist, who persuaded him to get back to the world of music. The singer said that working with "The Voice UK" definitely helped him recover.

Tom Jones had been with his wife, Linda, for 59 years. When the latter passed away last year after a battle with lung cancer, Jones said that he could barely get out of bed. He spent many days thinking about how he could no longer continue his career. The 76-year-old singer told the Mirror that it was his son, Mark Woodward, who encouraged him to see a guidance counselor.

"The Voice UK" judge agreed to go to therapy. It was during their sessions, when Tom Jones was told that he needed to do his music again. ""She counselled me with a lot of things. She said to me, 'You've got to carry on...if you don't you'll die'," he said about his therapist. So, Jones followed her advice and went back to work.

With the support of his counseling sessions and his relatives, Tom Jones was able to return to making music. According to the Daily Star Sunday, Jones promised not to retire. He said that keeping busy with work pulled him from the sadness that enveloped him after his wife passed away. There had been days when he thought he would die from grief.

Tom Jones had known his wife since they were twelve years old. They were childhood sweethearts and her death almost ruined him. Now, the "Delilah" singer serves as a judge on "The Voice UK". He said that he will return to the spotlight to do more projects. "Time off would be death for me... I'm happier when I'm singing, than not," he said with finality.
