Charlize Theron introduces her character Cipher in a recent "The Fate of the Furious" featurette released by Universal Pictures. The actress revealed that her villain character changes the theme of the movie.

According to Eyewitness News, Theron admitted that she enjoyed portraying Cipher in "The Fate of the Furious." However, she also found it challenging to play the role of someone who breaks what the "Fast and the Furious" franchise is all about, which is family. "This is a franchise that has been built for 16 years on this idea of family being kind of the cornerstone ... and to play a character that has to kind of break all of that up, it was fun, yeah, and challenging," Theron said.

Theron plays the first ever female villain in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise. Her character goes by the nickname Cipher, although her real name remains a mystery. The trailer for "The Fate of the Furious" pretty much revealed Theron's character as the ultimate antagonist, since she manages to lure good guy Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) to the dark side.

It remains unknown why Cipher is able to convince Toretto to betray his family. According to Comicbook, it is obvious from "The Fate of the Furious" trailer that he was forced. Perhaps someone's life is at risk and Toretto had no choice but to work with Cipher.

Theron described her character in "The Fate of the Furious" as "so evil." Yet she also finds her cool. The Oscar-winning actress hinted that Cipher is someone who usually gets what she wants. She is not afraid of a challenge and is willing to destroy relationships for personal gain.

Theron said Cipher loves to challenge Toretto's code about saving people. She especially tests his loyalty to his family in "The Fate of the Furious." "Some of her actions in this film have definitely devastated and loosen the foundation of what this franchise was about," Theron said in the video below.
