Android Wear 2.0 Update Arrives for LG G Watch R and LG Watch Urbane

The first generation of LG G Watch R and LG Watch Urbane are one of the first android wear devices that will be updated to Android Wear 2.0. The users of these two devices have received the updates for their devices.

The Android Wear 2.0 update was launched around two months back by Google but still many devices that were running the first generation Android Wear software have reportedly not received any updates till now. The reports suggest that the delay was caused by a software bug in the Android Wear 2.0 which has now been patched. Hence the update has started rolling out for compatible devices, Phone Arena reported.

The Android Wear 2.0 update for LG G Watch R and LG Watch Urbane is still not official as only a handful of Reddit users have confirmed to receive an update. However, it seems that this update is the final and stable version for these two watches and will reportedly make its way to the other devices soon.

The other devices which have received the Android Wear 2.0 update include Fossil Q Founder, TAG Heuer Connected and Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, Android Police reported. Another batch of updates was made available for few more Android Wear devices including that from Fossil, Nixon, Michael Kors and Polar watches. This brings the total number of updated devices to 11.

This new Android Wear 2.0 update brings a host of new features to LG G Watch R and LG Watch Urbane including, standalone applications that have their own specialized and customized Google PlayStore, a swipe keyboard and Complication that displays information from third party applications directly to the watch face.

Android Wear 2.0 also brings a couple of changes to the platform. It is now possible to do many things directly on the smartphone without having to pick up the smartphone that is paired with the device. These devices can connect directly to the internet and function independently without the smartphone. Unfortunately, there is still no word on the Android Wear 2.0 update for LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition.
