The "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale received poor views for its demo rating. The results, however, do not affect the show's renewal, since Season 2 is still happening.

According to TV By the Numbers, the "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale dipped to a rating of 0.8 for the show's demo numbers. Friday's episode dipped 11 percent from the numbers gained for its penultimate episode. The April 7 episode gained a 0.9 rating.

Regardless, the "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale saw the highest in overall viewership compared to its competitive shows in other networks. Friday's episode earned 6.64 million views. Other shows that aired at the same time (8:00 p.m.) with "MacGyver" received fewer viewers. NBC's "First Dates" came next with 3.36 million, ABC's "The Toy Box" with 3.22 and Fox's "Rosewood" with 2.5 million views. The CW's vampire show "The Originals" only had 1.01 million views.

Despite the dip in rating for the "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale, the show still goes on. CBS already renewed the series for Season 2, prior to the reveal of the finale numbers. The renewal takes off after the events in the final episode, which hinted at a possible comeback for Murdoc.

To recap, the "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale saw Murdoc (David Dastmalchian) move forward with his revenge plan against the titular lead. He recruited a former cellmate (Mark Sheppard) to infiltrate the Phoenix Complex, where they disguised themselves as lab technicians.

The "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale saw several agents die when Murdoc went on a killing spree. Luckily, MacGyver (Lucas Till) and his team came to the rescue and escaped unscathed, according to TV Line. The last episode ended with Murdoc back in prison.

However, the cliffhanger in the "MacGyver" Season 1 Finale hinted Murdoc could still escape. He might use a torn page to escape the high-security facility. Perhaps this cliffhanger will be tackled in Season 2.
