'High School Musical 4': Vanessa Hudgens Wants In; Zac Efron Reunion Unlikely

Rumors have it that Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron are bound for a reunion soon. Hudgens expressed her interest in being in the sequel, although Efron has yet to confirm his return.

A Zanessa reunion in "High School Musical 4" continues to hunt Hudgens and Efron. The exes, who met and fell in love in the original Disney TV movie, have yet to officially confirm their involvement in the sequel. There are speculations that the "Powerless" star is interested in reprising her role as Gabriella Montez.

According to Hollyscoop, Hudgens expressed her interest in being in "High School Musical 4" back in March, but not for major appearances. The 28-year old reportedly said that she would like to have a cameo role only. This gave Zanessa fans hope that she and Efron would reunite in the sequel.

However, Hudgens retracted her statement in a recent interview about "High School Musical 4" with E! News. This time she denied that she is reprising Gabriella Montez in the sequel. Hudgens said that she could return possibly as an older character, given that she is now 28 years old, although she refused to portray one because she is "still a teenager at heart." Regardless, Hudgens is happy that Disney is bringing back the musical with new faces. Her advice to the casts is just to have fun.

Meanwhile, as for Efron, the "Neighbors 2" star has yet to open up about the sequel. So far, he has remained mum whether he would reprise his role as Troy Bolton or not. He did, however, assured that he and Hudgens are still friends. There is no bad blood between them following their split in 2010.

Efron shared a throwback photo of their "High School Musical" days on his Instagram. The snap shows him with Hudgens along with their co-stars Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu. He captioned the image with "one of the most cherished and exciting times of my life" and "love you guys forever."
