Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George’s desire to play for the Los Angeles Lakers is an open secret. This is especially true within the Pacers locker room. This is why when the 2017-18 season ends and the Palmdale California native can opt out of his contract, George is rumored to be heading to LA.

Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson hinted on his Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance that Paul George is on the Lakers’ radar. But, he can’t just tell the superstar outright that he wants him to come to the Lakers. The team has great young players in its roster including D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram but could well use a certified superstar like Paul George.

The four-time All-Star is coming yet from another strong season with the Pacers as he averaged 23.7 points per game aside from 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals. Despite this and some high profile moves during the offseason, the Pacers only managed to finish seventh in the Eastern Conference according to the Bleacher Report. The Cleveland Cavaliers swept them out of the first round last weekend.

Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony’s saga with Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks continues. The team is stuck with Melo unless he waives the no trade clause in his contract. If he ever decides to do so, the Los Angeles Clippers would be the best team for him. The team represents his best chance of winning a championship.

Blake Griffin on the other hand has lost some of his athleticism due to various injuries he sustained while playing for the Clippers. Although his team is in the playoffs, many doubt if they could get past the stronger teams in the Western Conference like the Golden State Warriors reports the LA Times.

According to many basketball analysts, the Blake Griffin and Carmelo Anthony swap is a trade that will solve two teams’ problems. There is no official word from the camps of both teams regarding the NBA trade rumor.

What do you think? Is Carmelo Anthony the missing link for the Los Angeles Clippers to go all the way to the championship? Will Paul George finally realize his dream of playing for the other and more storied LA team? Share us your thoughts in the comments section below.
