Gwen Stefani Cancelled Las Vegas Show Due To Ear Injury, Jennifer Hudson To Fill Her Absence

Last April 27, Gwen Stefani canceled her live performance at Las Vegas due to unexpected medical issues. The singer ruptured her eardrum while onboard a plane to the venue. Though Jennifer Hudson takes over her place.

The 47-year-old singer suffered an eardrum damage 2 days before her Las Vegas concert. The Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles attended to the medical needs of Stefani. The doctor advises her to avoid taking flights for a while and put a hold to her singing until she gets healed. This results in her absence at the 21st annual Power of Love Gala.

The pop star was set to perform a 30-minute live set at the MGM Grand but to her unfortunate incapacity, cancels the live performance for the last minute. Guests at the event were informed right before the event. Stefani sends her apologies via a recorded video saying:

"I am so sorry that I cannot attend tonight, But I wanted to send a message of congratulations to Andre Agassi and my dear friend Ronald Pearlman."

The event was organized by the Keep Memory Alive charity which aims to seek help to find cures for memory and movement disorders, as reported by Mail Online. The theme was to honor caregivers who support patients who suffer from Alzheimer's disease. The performance is to honor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated, Ronald O. Perelman as an outstanding philanthropy. It is also to award Andre Agassi with Community Achievement Award and Siegfried Fischbacher for the inaugural Caregiver Award.

To perform on her behalf, announcer Robin Leach then revealed that in place of Gwen's absence, she sent Oscar and Grammy-winning superstar Jennifer Hudson, as reported by E Online!. The actress kindly agreed to perform at the last minute in place of Stefani sharing a video on Instagram that she's on the way to answer the call for need.

The Voice coach was set to lead the annual fundraiser alongside Bon Jovi. Though Stefani is unable to attend the scheduled Gala, the organizers promised to guests that both headliners will play special performances to be announced soon.
