"The Flash" Season 3 may see Barry Allen sacrifice himself to save Iris and his friends in the finale. According to a report, the only way he can defeat Savitar is to trap himself in the Speed Force.

Fans have been guessing ways on how Barry Allen can defeat Savitar following the reveal that the latter is no other than future Barry Allen or future Flash. Since Savitar and Barry technically share the same life, (they share the same memories), the only way Barry can defeat the villain is to sacrifice himself and he might do just that in the finale of "The Flash" Season 3.

According to Comicbook, the only way Barry can defeat Savitar in "The Flash" Season 3 is by trapping himself in the Speed Force in the finale. This would altogether end the existence of the God of Speed. The cold, angry and hurt version of Barry would cease to exist. In a way also, Barry prevents Iris' death, which prevents the existence of Savitar. After all, her death was the reason future Barry turned into the villain.

Interestingly, this theory might just play out in the finale of "The Flash" Season 3. Leaked footage from the finale (see video below) shows Barry saying goodbye. He shares an emotional scene with Iris and she can be seen crying while Barry talks to Joe, Jay and the rest of Team Flash. The end of the video shows Barry walk away with Tracy, who created the Speed Force that would trap Savitar.

It is also interesting to point out what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said about the finale of "The Flash" Season 3. He said that it is going to be very emotional. "You're definitely going to cry," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Kreisberg's statement can mean many things including that of a character death in the finale. Perhaps he also hinted at Barry's decision to trap himself in the Speed Force in "The Flash" Season 3.
