Liam Payne, Cheryl Cole Baby: ‘Strip Down’ Singer Talks Son’s Name, Praises Cheryl

Liam Payne has revealed that the choice of naming his son Bear Payne was not his idea but his girlfriend's Cheryl Cole. Still, the "Strip Down" singer appreciated and praised Cheryl for being a great mother.

Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole received some criticisms from fans following the reveal of their son's name. Bear Payne does not really seem like a conventional name for a boy, but the proud parents could care less. The former One Direction singer admitted that he did not have a choice in the matter.

Liam Payne said that he left the naming of their son to Cheryl Cole. "I'm into more traditional names, the Mrs.... she's more into more unique, original names that people will remember. I wasn't going to fight her about it, she's the one who's done all the hard work, isn't she?" Liam Payne told The Sun.

Despite the unconventional choice of name for their son, Liam Payne was all praises for Cheryl Cole. In the same interview, he mentioned how the former Girls Aloud singer has been "so great" and "amazing" at raising their child. Liam is currently away from his family as he promotes his single "Strip Down," which means Cheryl has to take care of Bear Payne by herself.

Of course, the "Strip Down" singer admitted that he misses his family while he is away. However, thanks to technology, he can just FaceTime with them anytime he wants. The singer recalled one time during their session that Bear Payne smiled at him for the first time and he marveled at the special moment.

Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole revealed the name of their son in the last couple of weeks after they announced his birth in March. Fans had initially thought that they would name their baby after Liam's choice, which is Taylor, according to Mail Online.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole had talked about wanting to name her son as Alfie. Clearly, neither Liam Payne nor Cheryl named their baby with their choice of names. It remains unclear though why and how Cheryl decided on Bear Payne for their son's name.
