Most “Game of Thrones” fans were surely disappointed with the news that the coming season 7 will only run for seven episodes. But, an exciting news has come out that says the season premiere will be slightly longer than the norm of around 45 minutes. The episode will reportedly run to almost an hour.

The “Game of Thrones” Season 7 premiere, which will air on July 16, will be the longest season premiere since the show’s pilot in 2011. It clocked in at 62 minutes according to HBO. Another treat will await fans at the end of the season reports Entertainment Weekly. The season 7 finale will be even longer as it will run for well over an hour without the ads.

The upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” may be shorter than usual but the cast will not be having it easy. Emily Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targarven, revealed that there have been longer filming hours. She for one will have a larger role in the new season according to The Telegraph. Peter Dinklage confirms this in a recent interview. The actor, who plays Tyrion Lannister, says, “I’ve worked more days this season than I have in quite some time.”

Another reason why the cast is working harder in the next “Game of Thrones” season is that several major characters died last season. These include Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon). The remaining lead characters have taken in their workload. As Kit Harington put it, everyone gets to have a bigger slice of the pie.

What can you say about “Game of Thrones” Season 7 having less episodes but more screen time for Jon Snow? Are the longer premiere and finale episodes somehow ease your worry of being short-changed? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
