Alex O’Loughlin has not made it a secret that “Hawaii Five-O” Season 8 will be his last one. It seems that he is not the only one who won’t be returning past next season. All the talk of Danny’s retirement seems to indicate that Scott Caan will be on the way out as well. It’s a good thing then that last season’s finale successfully gave the show’s two main characters a few ways they can exit the Task Force. That is, if season 8 will indeed be their last.

The future will be as bad as it could get for Alex O’Loughlin’s character Steve McGarrett when “Hawaii Five-O” Season 8 airs reports Cartermatt. He was diagnosed with radiation poisoning after he diffused a bomb with only a car battery strapped to his chest as protection. The doctor already told him that his long term prognosis is not good. It will take a long and tedious recovery for Steve both physically and emotionally.

In last season’s finale, Steve told Danny that while things are not looking good, he still has some options going for him according to TV Line. From the start, Steve has always been incredibly stubborn and will surely not accept anything that will forever slow him down. In “Hawaii Five-o” Season 8, it is either Steve gets killed by the radiation poisoning or beat the odds. He can move on to do other things away from the task force.

Meanwhile, Danny will be at the crossroads of his life in “Hawaii Five-O” Season 8. There is the possibility that he will retire since his job is starting to weigh him down physically and emotionally. He wants to do other things after losing some people he cared about and his daughter being kept from him sometimes.

There is a possible story path that Steve and Danny will eventually leave the task force to go into the restaurant business together. This may be the best way of wrapping up the two characters’ stories should Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan decide to leave or the show bids farewell after “Hawaii Five-O” Season 8.

Will Steve and Danny’s bromance see its end in “Hawaii Five-O” Season 8? What do you think should be the two characters’ endgames in the series? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
