There is still no word on the release date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2 and fans are getting impatient. Ahead of the shows' return however, one of the writers teased the possible reappearance of some of the characters from the previous seasons.

"Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2 does not air until the summer and there is no specific release date announced yet. The new episode, titled "Rickmancing the Stone," could come sometime between June and August, with fans hoping for an earlier release in June. The common notion though is that it airs in July, much like what happened with the previous seasons.

While the showrunners continue to remain mum on the release date of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2, one of the writers tease some details about the new season, Blasting News shared. Ryan Ridley hinted at the return of past characters in an interview with Y Combinator. He teased at the reappearance of Evil Morty.

"The fact that anybody cares about characters that were introduced once in season one, like the eye-patch Morty, who's the evil Morty, was that character gonna come back? In season three I think that we stay true to the idea of those, the world is real, there are consequences," Ridley said. Aside from the return of Evil Morty, he also teased the appearance of Mr. Meeseeks, Mr. Poopybutthole, Scary Terry and Squanchy.

Likewise, Ridley stressed the role that Beth and Jerry's divorce plays going into the season. The installment further explores the consequences of their divorce. "Some of the stuff that you've already seen is going to play out more in Season 3," he added. Ridley's statements coincide with speculations that Morty turns evil in "Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2 as consequence of Beth and Jery's divorce.

According to Den of Geek, it is likely that Evil Morty appears when the good Morty turns against his grandfather following that tease in the premiere episode. Morty appeared hurt when he learned that Rick orchestrated his parents' divorce. He also wanted to kill his grandfather.

According to the publication, it is likely that a conflict develops between the titular characters that could result to good Morty turning into Evil Morty. Regardless, fans will have to find out what happens when "Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2 airs in the summer.
