Bruno Mars' Mother Dies: Bernadette Hernandez Passed Away in Hawaii From Brain Aneurysm At 55-Years-Old

Grammy winning singer Bruno Mars' (born Peter Gene Hernandez) mother died on Saturday in Hawaii from a brain aneurysm. According to a People Magazine report, the publicist for Mars' label Atlantic Records confirmed the news to the Associated Press. Bernadette Hernandez was 55-years-old. She died in Honolulu at Queens Medical Center.

Hernandez was a singer and hula dancer. According to CNN, Mars was just four-years-old when he began performing as an Elvis impersonator in his family's show. Mars has gone on to become one of the most popular pop acts in the world. Mars' single "Just The Way You Are" won him a Grammy for best male pop vocal performance in 2010. Mars was nominated for three Grammy's for his first album. Mars' two big current singles are "Locked Out of Heaven" and "When I Was Your Man."

Mars just released his second album and he is supposed to start touring again for his "Moonshine Jungle Tour" on June 22. Bruno Mars has not posted on his Twitter account since Friday when he tweeted, "Imagination is the one vacation that doesn't cost a thing."

According to BrunoMars.com, the singer will be playing at Washington D.C.'s Verizon Center June 22. Mars already has sold out his shows at the Verizon Center, Newark, NJ's Prudential Center, Brooklyn's Barclays Center, along with a number of other dates. He will be touring along with Ellie Goulding and Fitz & The Tantrums. There is no word yet if the death of his mother will affect any of his tour dates.
