Serena Williams Wins French Open 2013 Title: 16th Grand Slam Victory, Rafael Nadal Faces David Ferrer in Men's Final

Serena Williams just won her 16th grand slam crown Saturday after defeating Maria Sharapova. Williams beat Sharapova 6-4, 6-4 to win the 2013 French Open. According to CNN, Williams made relatively quick work over last year's champion by winning in 1 hour and 46 minutes. So now where does Williams go down among the greats in women's tennis?

According to ESPN, Williams hit 10 aces, with the last one checking in at 123 mph. At 31-years-old, Williams becomes the oldest major winner since Martina Navratilova's Wimbledon victory at the age of 33 in 1990.

Despite being 31, which is relatively old in tennis years, Williams seems to be playing the best tennis of her career. Williams has 31 straight wins along with winning three of the last four grand slams. Williams has improved to 16-4 in grand slam finals and leads all active women with 16 major wins. Williams' 16 put her eight behind Margaret Court, who has the record with 24 wins.

The French Open men's final is Sunday, with Rafael Nadal facing David Ferrer. Nadal is going for his eight win at the French Open, while Ferrer will be playing in his first major finals match. Nadal had to outlast Novak Djokovic in the French Open semi-final, which lasted four hours and 37 minutes. The final scoring went 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7.
