Sitcom "Big Bang Theory" was the big winner at Monday night's Critics' Choice TV Awards in Hollywood, winning a total of three awards, more than any other program.
The show won Best Comedy Series, and two of its actors also picked up prizes. Simon Helberg, who plays one of the show's keynote nerds, Howard Wolowitz, won the award for Best Supporting Actor. Kaley Cuoco, who plays protagonist Leonard Hofstadter's girlfriend Penny, took home the award for Best Supporting Actress. Cuoco was, putting it lightly, excited.
The award for best drama was less clear cut to the titular critics, apparently. "Game of Thrones" and "Breaking Bad," which is entering its final season, shared the award. "Bad" might have won the tiebreaker however, with Bryan Cranston winning the Best Actor prize. It's the second time Cranston has won for his role as Walter White, and the second year in a row. The award for Best Actress went to Tatiana Maslay, who plays multiple cloned characters on the new BBC America production "Orphan Black."
One of the night's more enticing prizefights was for Best Actor in a Movie or Miniseries, which pitted Michael Douglas against co-star Matt Damon for their roles in the HBO production "Beyond The Candelabra," a drama on the life of pianist Liberace. Douglas, who plays the title musician, won the award. The series, directed by Steven Soderbergh, also won for Best Movie or Miniseries.
Louis CK won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy for his role in "Louie," and Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for Best Actress in a Comedy for playing the title character in "Veep."
