Kanye West recently sat down with New York Times writer Jon Caramanica for a rare interview that touched on his whole career as well as details about his forthcoming album Yeezus. The rapper and producer, who is set to have a child with reality star Kim Kardashian next month, has not done many interviews in the recent past so this in-depth look at his life in the industry is a pretty interesting look at the artist we all want to know so much more about. This interview explores subjects like working with Rick Rubin, his relationship with record labels and even touches on his infamous Taylor Swift interruption.

"I am so credible and so influential and so relevant that I will change things. So when the next little girl that wants to be, you know, a musician and give up her anonymity and her voice to express her talent and bring something special to the world, and it's time for us to roll out and say, 'Did this person have the biggest thing of the year?' - that thing is more fair because I was there."

This statement led the interviewer to ask about how he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. West simply responded:

"[My instinct] only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It's only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That's all it is."

He added that he does not "have one regret" in general.

When asked about his upcoming album Yeezus and the influences he had while making it, West said:

"Yeah, it's like trap and drill and house. I knew that I wanted to have a deep Chicago influence on this album, and I would listen to like, old Chicago house. I think that even 'Black Skinhead' could border on house, 'On Sight' sounds like acid house, and then 'I Am a God' obviously sounds, like, super house."
