The recent devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma have hit one band close to home: Talihina, Okla., natives Kings of Leon. Today (June 13), the "Use Somebody" rockers announced they will headline "Rock for Oklahoma" alongside fellow Oklahomans The Flaming Lips. Rock acts Jackson Browne and Built to Spill are also slated to perform, among other acts.

"We couldn't be more proud to lend a hand to our home state. We were all devastated by what happened there," KOL bassist Jared Followill said in a statement to TulsaWorld.com. "We have family and friends that were affected by the tornados. This is the least we could do."

The terrible storms also affected The Flaming Lips, who still keep base in in their home state. Flaming Lips frontman, Wayne Coyne, was directly impacted by the storm. His Oklahoma City house was flooded recently.

"Shakespeare said, 'It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after,' and in our small way, we are trying to not just be here at the moment of immediate need, but to stay and help with the rebuilding," said Coyne. "After all, this is our home state, and they are us and we are them."

Besides teaming up with fellow Sooners for charity, Kings of Leon are hard at work on tour in Europe, and teasing their upcoming 2013 album Mechanical Bull in the process. The record, named after the John Travolta film Urban Cowboy, will be released Sept. 24. It will be the sixth studio album from the group.

At a concert last night (June 12) in London, the Kings teased two tracks from the soon-to-be-released CD, including alleged lead single "Super Soaker." Watch a live recording of the song below:

This song, along with another recent live track "It Don't Matter" mark a return to form for Kings of Leon. Band members have teased to NME that their new record will be more of a mix of their debut album Youth & Young Manhood and 2007's Because of the Times.

Until Mechanical Bull is released in the fall, fans can go to the "Rock for Oklahoma Benefit" to see Kings of Leon. Tickets go on sale Friday at ticketmaster.com and will range in price from $35 to $50. All proceeds from the show will go to charities in central Oklahoma.
