During her concert in Chicago at the B96 Summer Bash over the weekend, singer Demi Lovato took some time out of her performance to open up to her fans in attendance. The 20-year-old "Heart Attack" singer is currently promoting her latest album, Demi, and being in Illinois reminded her of a troubling time in her life. Back in 2010, Demi checked into a rehabilitation center in Chicago to undergo treatment for depression, cutting and a number of other issues for which she wanted to get help. Being back in the city brought up memories of her rehab stint and she shared the story with her fans this weekend.

"So before I start this next song, I just want to tell you guys a little story. Really fast, not going to take up too much time," Lovato said. "A couple years ago, it's no secret, I had to go into treatment for a bunch of issues. I mean, I could name them all [but] we we ain't got time. I had to go away to treatment and I want to let you know that this treatment center is called Timberline Knolls. It was here in Lemont, Illinois."

"Every time that I play Chicago, I don't know what it is," she continued. "Maybe it's because I felt so much love here and I've been through so much. I just want you guys to know that when I come to Chicago, I never forget that this place is the place that saved my life. If anybody out there is dealing with an eating disorder, substance abuse, cutting, bullying, whatever it is - I want you guys to know that I've been through it and that I've gotten through it and you can do it too."

Since her time spent in treatment, Demi has been active in anti-bullying campaigns and has raised awareness concerning eating disorders.
