'Happy Endings' Season 4 Cancelled: ABC Show Done For Good? Cast Contracts End, USA, TBS, NBC Pass on Show

There is some bad news for fans of ABC sitcom "Happy Endings." The show starring Zachary Knighton, Casey Wilson, Elisha Cuthbert, Damon Wayans Jr., Eliza Coupe and Adam Pally was cancelled by the network back in May and now it looks like there is little hope for a second network swooping in to save the day. Fans had been hoping that another network such as USA or TBS would pick up the show and continue with season 4. Unfortunately, Deadline is reporting that Sony TV Friday was the final day of the casts' contracts.

Despite becoming a cult hit among fans, Deadline reports that attempts by Sony TV to sell other networks on a fourth season of "Happy Endings" failed. The website reports that USA is looking to take on half hour sitcoms in addition to picking up "Modern Family" re-runs, but after initial interest, they opted instead to concentrate on their own original series'. According to Screen Crush, TBS and NBC were also rumored to be interested but for whatever reason they passed.

Of course, you can never count out some other network or TV service putting the cast back together like Netflix did with "Arrested Development." It's all about money and if a network or studio thinks the demand is there, like it seems to be with "Happy Endings," then they may take a chance. Moreover, there are more options now than ever before outside of basic TV and cable TV. There is Netflix and also other options such as YouTube and Hulu, but it still would be a major undertaking bringing back the entire cast and writers responsible for making the show so great in the first place.
