By now you've probably heard about actor Alec Baldwin's angry Twitter rant in response to a Daily Mail journalist falsely reporting that his wife Hilaria was tweeting while they were in attendance at James Gandolfini's funeral. The latest is that Baldwin has apologized for his remarks, specifically to GLAAD for making what some perceived as homophobic comments while tweeting. The "30 Rock" actor has since deleted his Twitter account and it doesn't sound like he will be back on the social networking site anytime soon.

After his wife was accused of tweeting while attending James Gandolfini's funeral (it was later learned that the writer got the times mixed up and was wrong) Baldwin took to Twitter with an angry Twitter rant. The actor's tweets (@ABFalecbaldwin) included the following:

"George Stark, you lying little b----h. I am gonna f%#@ you up"

"My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this f---ing trash"

"(I'd) put my foot up your f---king ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too much"

"I'm gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I'm gonna f---k...you...up."

"I don't have a publicist anymore." "I fired them."

"How much of this s--- are people supposed to take? With these f---king blatant lies EVERY DAY."

"My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends funeral. Now, f---k this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth."

Baldwin has since released a statement to GLAAD, after people accused Baldwin's comments of being homophobic.

"My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone's sexual orientation. My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend's funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize.

I have worked, periodically, with numerous marriage equality organizations, especially over the past couple of years, to achieve the very rights that gay couples are earning by recent court decisions. I would not advocate violence against someone for being gay and I hope that my friends at GLAAD and the gay community understand that my attack on Mr. Stark in no way was the result of homophobia.

Many Thanks, Alec Baldwin."

GLAAD also issued a statement responding with the following:

"Alec Baldwin is making it clear that the intent behind his tweets does not excuse his language, especially at a time when there were 11 incidents of violence against gay men in New York City just last month. As we all work to end such senseless acts of violence, allies like Baldwin are right to use these moments to reinforce support for the community and LGBT equality."

For now, it appears everyone has calmed down, although Baldwin deleted his Twitter account and it doesn't seem like the actor will be back on anytime soon.
