Lady Gaga aka "Mother Monster" has been sidelined with her hip surgery over the last few months. However, the pop superstar and outspoken supporter of gay rights made sure she showed up at this weekend's 2013 NYC Gay Pride Weekend festivities. Gaga gave a touching speech and even sang a lyrically altered a capella version of the National Anthem Friday night at the Gay Pride Weekend Rally to open up the week's festivities. We've got the video below.

Following the Supreme Court's groundbreaking decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) this past week, Gaga gave a memorable speech thanking the politicians who stood up for gay rights.

"I would like to thank everyone from the Supreme Court to every legislator and political leader that has ever stood with us," Gaga said. "I am so fortunate to have been welcomed by all of you into the LGBT community and to this family ... Our evolution as LGBT citizens always continues to change and we see that the further we are able to reveal and share our lives, the further we move into the hearts and minds of other Americans."

Gaga also explained to the crowd the impact the LGBT community has had on her.

"When I was in high school and grade school and younger, I was considered to be an outcast and I just couldn't find my place," Gaga said. "Where did I fit in? And I look back on that time and I remember feeling that I was cut from a different mold."

Gaga continued, "There was a particular crowd who did accept me. There was a particular crowd who made room for me at their table, who held me up when I felt I couldn't, who loved me for exactly who I was. It was you. And to stand here equal to you tonight."

You can watch Gaga's performance of the National Anthem below. As Pop Crush notes, Gaga changed some of the lyrics to say, ""Oh say does that star-spangled flag of pride yet wave." The singer was also holding a Gay Pride flag as she sang. Watch the video below.
