UFC 162 was last night, July 6 and the main event is causing a lot of controversy. The pay-per-view show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas was headlined by Anderson Silva defending his middleweight championship against Chris Weidman. Anderson "The Spider" Silva has held the title for seven years and has been unbeatable. That is why it surprised so many when Weidman knocked Silva out in the second round of last night's main event at UFC 162. However, why are so many people suggesting that the fight was fixed?

Silva was seen by many fans as an unstoppable force. He has held the middleweight title for seven years, often toying with his competitors in the process of beating them. However, Saturday night, when Silva was showboating and keeping his arms down by his sides, Weidman made him pay. Silva spent the entire fight taunting and showboating. He kept his arms down by his sides, and he even faked as if he was hurt right before actually getting knocked out.

Weidman is no slouch. He was 10-0 going into the fight and the number one contender. In the second round he caught Silva with a left hook that sent Silva's eyes rolling in the back of his head. Silva's reign was over that quickly. After the fight Silva sounded like a guy who didn't want to fight anymore. He said he didn't want a rematch for the title and he would finish out his 10 fight contract and spend more time with his family.

This reaction and the shock of Silva actually losing is causing a lot of fans to suggest that the fight was fixed. UFC owner Dana White gave a Dana White like response when the question of a fix was asked of him. "Yeah, the fix is in, you f---ing idiots," White said after the fight via MMAJunkie Saturday night. "That's one of the things that makes combat sports and this sport so exciting," White explained. "When two guys go in there, anything can happen. And to go out like that - goofing around and doing all the s--- he did and then to get clipped?"

When you look at the situation rationally it would seem highly unlikely anyone would be able to pull off a fixed fight in this day in age, but there will always be conspiracy theorists. What do you think? Do you think the fight was fixed?
