Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert has parted ways with his longtime label RCA Records following "creative differences."

Earlier this week, The Hollywoord Reporter discovered RCA wanted Lambert to record a record of exclusively covers, causing outrage from his fans, known as "Glamberts," who thought that an album of non-original songs would be an underuse of Lambert's talents.

In a letter to THR, Lambert announced that he was leaving RCA. "I've had an amazing few years working with the team at RCA; I admire all of them a great deal, and truly appreciate the energy & enthusiasm that went into making both Trespassing & For Your Entertainment successes," he wrote.

Lamber then went on to confirm why he was leaving the record company: "That said, at this point, we are indeed having the oft cited 'creative differences' as to what my next project will be. Your article was correct, the label is 'pushing for an ('80s) covers album,' and feels that this is the only kind of release they are prepared to support. While there are lots of great songs from that decade, my heart is simply not in doing a covers album."

It is unknown what direction Lambert will take on his new album or where it will be distributed from.

However, Glamberts can look forward to seeing the "Mad World" singer on GLEE. Lambert was just announced he will be joining the FOX TV show in its upcoming fifth season, though it is unknown in what role or for how long.
