'Pacific Rim' 2013: Box Office Results, Reviews, WATCH Trailer [VIDEO] Neon Genesis Evangelion Comparison Not True?

Potential summer blockbuster "Pacific Rim" opened on Friday to mixed reviews. Actually, there were a lot of bad reviews, but as we know by now, that doesn't necessarily mean the movie will fail at the box office. However, according to Forbes, it looks like "Pacific Rim" is on its way to disappointing box office results in its opening weekend. The action/adventure movie is directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Eba and Charlie Day.

Forbes reports that in the movie's first 1.25 days (it opened Thursday evening), "Pacific Rim" earned $14.6 million. Forbes expects the movie to gross between $32 and $37 million for its opening weekend. This would have to be considered a disappointing opening weekend for a large summer action movie.

"Pacific Rim," like a lot of action/adventure movies has been receiving mixed reviews. Often time, movies such as "Pacific Rim" are plagued by either bad acting or bad writing and some critics have focused in on this point. Fox News' Justin Craig did just that in his review, calling the movie "funny" and "imaginative," while also saying the acting was bad. On the opposite end, The Salt-Lake Tribune's Sean P. Means calls the movie an "exciting monster mash up." In the end it depends on the person. If you're looking for a fun action movie, "Pacific Rim" will likely give that to you.

There has been some controversy surrounding the movie. A lot of anime fans have criticized the movie for being a Neon Genesis Evangelion rip-off. However, those that have seen the movie, and even the director himself have denied this.
