With news that Sam Mendes will be back to direct the next and 24th installment of the James Bond 007 movie franchise, rumors have been swirling as to who will play Bond in the follow up to 2012's successful "Skyfall" movie. Don't worry Bond fans, Daniel Craig, who has portrayed hte British spy in the last few movies, has been confirmed as the next James Bond. However, there has been speculation about who will eventually take over for Craig. One name to watch is "Pacific Rim" star Idris Elba. The next Bond film is set to be released sometime in 2015 and Craig reportedly has at least two more movies in his contract, but it's fun to speculate as to who could be the next Bond.

Mendes and Craig have proven to be a successful pairing following the success of "Skyfall." For the most part, Craig has gotten rave reviews playing agent 007. However, Idris Elba is a name to watch. He is slowly building up name recognition and is already known for his acting and good looks. One interesting aspect to consider is the fact that only white actors have portrayed Bond up until this point. However, the British actor would be a great choice for the part.

Before fans have too much fun with the rumors, Elba already denied the rumors. "It's not something that I actually hope to come to fruition," Elba told Digital Spy.  "It would be lovely if it did, but it's a rumour. It's actually like the will of a nation type-thing." Elba also denied the rumor to the Daily Mirror. "It's just a rumor - but what a compliment," Elba told the British website." I'm flattered by the notion of it."

However, we all know how things can change. If Craig eventually gives up his role as Craig, which will likely happen eventually, Elba certainly would be an interesting choice.
