Demi Lovato may just know some of the struggles that fallen GLEE star Cory Monteith went through. In an interview with People, the “Heart Attack” singer, who faced her own substance abuse issues, spoke about Monteith’s disease.

"All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction. It's not a choice. Nobody chooses to use. He didn't choose to die. It was the disease. It can creep up on you at any moment. It only takes one moment of relapse to potentially die. It's really scary, but I'm really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease," Lovato told the magazine.

"The main person in my thoughts is Lea," she continued. "I am praying for her so hard and I love her so much. I'm wishing her a lot of strength right now."

Upon Monteith's death on Saturday, July 13, Lovato tweeted out her feelings: "#RIPCoryMonteith... So unbelievably tragic. Please #prayforlea," she wrote.

Speaking out on the dangers of substance abuse isn't all the X Factor judge does for the better good. In June, she launched the Lovato Treatment Scholarship, which helps those who cannot afford mental health or addiction treatment get help.

Cory Monteith died at the age of 31 over the weekend. The actor, who portrayed Finn Hudson on the FOX hit GLEE struggled with addiction. An autopsy performed earlier this week revealed that he died of a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol.
