Little Monsters rejoice: Lady Gaga is set to take the stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, taking place for the first time in Brooklyn, New York. MTV made the announcement that the Mother Monster will perform at the award show via their Instagram earlier today (Thursday, July 25).

MTV News reporter Sway Calloway, along with Gaga fans, made the video announcement. Check out the post below.

The VMAs will take place on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. on MTV.

Gaga is reportedly going to perform the first single off her upcoming new album 2013 ARTPOP. Yesterday, on her littlemonsters.com social networking site, Gaga's makeup artist and the "Born This Way" songstress herself hinted about the new single, rumored to be called "Applause."

"If only fame had an IV, / Baby I could bare, / Being away from you, / I found the vein, / Put it in here," the lyrics to the new single seem to go. Album artwork in progress was also revealed in the social networking photo.

The single is set to be released less than a week before the VMAs on Aug. 19, meaning that this won't be the first time fans will hear the new song, though it will be Gaga's first major live performance since her hip surgery.

Her 2013 VMAs performance won't be Gaga's first time taking the award show's stage. In 2009, the singer gave a blood soaked, highly dramatic performance of her hit single "Paparazzi." Her most recent performance in 2011 featured Gaga as her male alter ego Jo Calderone giving a dialogue and performing Born This Way single "You & I."

Watch the "Paparazzi" performance below.

Lady Gaga's new single and VMA performance isn't the only reason the pop superstar is making headlines. Vintage-style crooner Lana Del Rey recently had a Gaga diss track, "So Legit" leak, prompting little monsters to flood the "Young & Beautiful" songstress' Facebook with negative comments.
