It's confirmed. Daft Punk will, in fact, appear on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" next week. MTV News got official word that the "Get Lucky" French electronica duo will appear on the lampooning news program on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

It's not exactly clear what role Daft Punk will take on "The Colbert Report," as interviewees, performers or a mix of both. It is known, however, that Daft Punk will make the rare TV appearance as a part of StePhest Colbchella, a semi-music festival the comedian has hosted for the last two years.

Last year's Colbchella series featured a concert on the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York City, with performances from The Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, fun. and Santigold. Each night, an interview with the band took place in some odd location on the ship, including a rocking rowboat and bunk beds, and concluded with a two-song performance. In 2011, Bon Iver, Florence + The Machine, Jack White and Talib Kweli were featured.

Other guests for the week of August 5 have yet to be announced.

The Daft Punk appearance on "The Colbert Report" was first teased Monday night, when Colbert mysteriously and briefly appeared on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on NBC. As MStars previously reported, Colbert appeared from behind a curtain, got his best dad dance moves on for roughly 30 seconds with Fallon, then disappeared backstage.

Rumors quickly flooded the Internet that this meant Daft Punk would appear on Comedy Central soon.

The appearance is still shrouded in mystery. It's unknown whether Daft Punk if Daft Punk will perform at all, or if they will, if the duo will play their hit "Get Lucky," featuring Pharrell or announce the second single from "Random Access Memories."
