Is anybody else getting a little worried about the status of Star Wars: Episode VII? Though in the spring of this year we had plenty of announcements and updates, it seems like the summer months have slowed the progress of the film. This weekend's D23 Expo was advertised to have "Star Wars" as a main attraction, but nothing concerning the new films were announced besides what we already knew. Rumors about J.J. Abrams leaving the film came and went about a month ago, but with no updates coming from Disney these rumors might resurface or worse yet come true? What isn't Disney telling us a about the most anticipated movie in a long time? Do you think that the 2015 release date is still plausible despite no news coming from the Expo?

Numerous fan and film sites covering the new Star Wars movie have been throwing around theories as to why nothing was revealed this weekend. Perhaps Disney is just keeping quiet or trying to keep secrets in regards to the film? That's definitely a possibility, but with 2 years left for casting, filming, editing, etc., how will this movie get made before 2015?

To hold you over with this lack of updates, here is one of many great fan-made trailers for Star Wars: Episode VII:

Mstars recently reported on the lack of news coming from the 2013 D23 Expo. Here is an excerpt:

The 2013 Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, was rumored to be the stage for announcing casting, plot and general news for the J.J. Abrams-directed 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII. But what we learned from today's event is that rumors are not always true. There were no new announcements. There were no casting revelations. In fact, producer Kathleen Kennedy and director Abrams were not even in attendance.

Today served as a recap of what we already know - some of which we have known for quite some time. Disney chief Alan Horn came out to make the announcements today, and he was very adamant about the 2015 release date. Here is an excerpt from Slashfilm's coverage of the Expo:

Horn basically recapped the info we know: Michael Arndt is scripting, J.J. Abrams is directing, and John Williams will provide the score for Star Wars: Episode VII. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are working on spin-off movies. And while there has been some speculation that the film would arrive later than 2015, Horn said the film would arrive in the summer of that year, as originally intended.
