Over the weekend, Katy Perry's highly anticipated new single "Roar" leaked onto the Internet a few days before its scheduled Aug. 12 release date. Now, the pop superstar has spoken out about her feelings regarding the leak, and apparently it's not that big of a deal!

"We had some leak stuff happen, which actually is fine. A leak situation is just like your little brother running on Christmas Day and opening your present. At the end of the day, it's still your present, but it's like 'You took the surprise out of all of it,'" Perry told radio hosts in an interview with Sirius XM.

Despite the ruined surprise, in the end, Perry understood that fans were more than anxious to hear the teased song. "But it's OK! People wanted the music. I wrote the song 'Roar' in March, and I really wanted to get it out there as soon as possible. I've been waiting, I've been sitting on this forever, so I understand. People get excited. I'm just glad its hit their ears now," she said.

Of course, Perry wasn't the only pop superstar to have her newest single leak over the weekend. Lady Gaga's first "Artpop" single "Applause" hit some streaming sites, prompting the Mother Monster to rush release her single a week early.

Though the two tracks are now going head-to-head, Perry brushed off any rivalry and admitted she was excited to hear Gaga's third album. "I think it's a really exciting time in music. I'm excited to see what her record sounds like," said Perry.

Watch clips from the Sirius XM Radio interview below, wherein Perry also touches on her collaboration with on-again, off-again boyfriend John Mayer.

Katy Perry's new album 2013 "Prism" is due out Oct. 22, assuming a little brother leaker doesn't ruin the surprise.
