A new biopic film project is in the works and it will focus on none other than the "godfather of soul" himself, James Brown. Director Tate Taylor (The Help) will direct the film, which was recently (and appropriately) titled Get On Up. Chadwick Boseman, the breakout star of this year's 42, had been cast in the leading role of the film, taking on the late James Brown's first portrayal on the big screen.

Also, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, who worked with the director on The Help, are allegedly being eyed for roles.

Here is the official information of this new James Brown film production:

In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42's Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in GET ON UP. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

Academy Award® winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile) and Erica Huggins (Flightplan) produce for Imagine Entertainment, with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman (Shine a Light) producing under their Jagged Films banner. Under his Wyolah Films label, Taylor also serves as a producer on GET ON UP, while Wyolah's John Norris executive produces alongside Trish Hofmann and Peter Afterman.

Tommir Rae Brown, James' widow, released this statement about the project:

"I am deeply honored that Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer, two of my husband James Brown's favorite people, have entered into a partnership to bring his inspirational story to the big screen."

Mick Jagger said: "It's a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown. He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life."
